Community involvement

Strategic Alliances

Social investment activities carried out by any company must have direct bearing on their corporate activity, therefore, Monex decided to work with disadvantaged groups of migrant families, as one of our main business area is the Currency Market, with which we are positioned as leaders in such market.

Our efforts are focused mainly on community projects that produce high impact on regions with an elevated migration index, with the purpose of promoting long term sustainability of such projects and implement an integral change in the quality of life of the population.

Examples of the latter are:

Fundación Comunitaria del Bajío

Because of the latter, and for 10 years now, we have been supporting the work carried on by the Fundación Comunitaria del Bajío (FCB).

The supporting activities that are carried out are mainly:

•    Financial donations to carry out community projects, such as: composting, beekeeping, pottery, among others.
•    Financial donations in order to cover FCB  employee salaries, as well as institutional strengthening.
•    Donation of 10 computes, furniture and a utility vehicle to transport personnel and cargo.
•    Acquisition of handcrafted products made by residents of the benefitted communities.

During the last three years, nearly 2 million pesos have been donated to FCB.

Bécalos

With the purpose of elevating the quality of education and opening education opportunities to students with talents and limited resources, we contribute with an annual donation to Bécalos, a scholarship program established in 2006 by the Mexican Banks Association, Televisa Foundation nd the country’s main Banking Institutions.

Since 2006 Fundación Monex has supported the program with more than 3.5 million pesos.

Fundación Quiera

Likewise, we actively participate with the Mexican Banks Association through a financial contribution to Quiera Foundation, foundation that supports institutions that work in favor of homeless working children and youngsters, through programs and scholarships.

In 2015 Fundación Monex sponsored 57 scholarships.

Ojos que Sienten

At Monex, since 2009 we have had the privilege of collaborating with different projects by supporting the Sight of Emotion Foundation.

During 2014, we have sponsored the “México Invisible” project, which displays photographs taken by people with visual impairment at the Franz Mayer museum, in addition to offering the experience of having a dinner in total darkness.

Support in Natural Disasters

We have a long tradition of participating in nation-wide contingencies and emergency situations related with natural disasters, supporting our employees as well as other people that are affected by such disasters.

In 2014, we called up our employees to collaborate in the support of victims and mitigate the damage caused by Hurricane Odile in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.

For every peso that was donated, Monex donated another peso, thus benefitting both employees from the branch office of a particular region, as well as a family of limited resources with the reconstruction of a decent home, which was completed and turned over in 2015.

Natural disaster donations: $440,444 pesos.
